Policies for the Interurban Trolley
Effective Date: June 22, 2022
Bicycle Policy
Bicycle racks are located on the front of new low-floor trolleys and the rear of older Trolleys. If the rack is full, you must wait for the next available Trolley; bicycles are not allowed in the Trolley. Let the driver know you are using the bicycle rack before you board and when you get off. Let the driver know when you’ve removed your bicycle from the rack. Riders assume all liability for using the bicycle racks. If a bike is lost the rider should call MACOG and provide their name, phone number, and a description of their bike. MACOG will then relay this information to the service provider to call the rider back
- Each Trolley is equipped with a bicycle rack that can accommodate two (2) bicycles. These are on the front of the newer low-floor trolleys and in the rear of older trolleys.
- Bicycles are accommodated free of charge and must be accompanied by a rider.
- A rider may only bring up to one bicycle.
- If the bicycle rack capacity is already taken, no additional bicycle riders will be accommodated on the Trolley bus at that time, they must wait for the next available bus.
- At no time will bicycles be carried onto and inside the Trolley bus.
- No mopeds or motorized bicycles will be allowed on the Trolley buses, including on the outside bicycle racks. The bike rack will only accommodate standard two-wheeled bicycles. Longer bicycles (like tandem bikes) or unusual bicycles like recumbent bikes may not use the trolley
- Bicycle riders should tell the driver that they will be using the bicycle rack on the Trolley bus prior to loading.
- Bicycle riders should remind the driver as they disembark from the Trolley bus that they will be unloading a bicycle from the bicycle rack and inform the driver when the bicycle has been removed from the Trolley.
- If the rider is the last one to use the bike rack and it will result in an empty bicycle rack, the bike rack should be raised into the empty position by the rider.
Stroller Policy
To ensure the safety of children and other passengers on the Interurban Trolley, the following guidelines are asked to be followed in terms of strollers on the trolley:
- Folding the stroller not only makes it easier for other customers to get on and off the bus, but it makes the ride safer for the adult customer and child. A child in a stroller runs the risk of being injured as a result of sudden bus movements.
- Please remove the child from the stroller and fold the stroller prior to boarding the bus
- The folded stroller should be stored under or between the seats and out of the way. Strollers may not block the aisle or doors at any time.
- The child must be held in the lap of the adult customer or in the seat alongside the adult for the duration of the ride. The care and control of the child is the responsibility of the adult passenger.
- Operators are unable to assist with the boarding, folding and storing of strollers.
Service Animal & Pet Policy
Service Animals may board the Trolley.
- A service animal is defined as any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability.
- The service animal must be under the passengers control at all times.
- The driver may ask the rider if the animal is a service animal and what task the animal has been trained to perform.
Small pets in carriers may board the Trolley.
- Only small pets, weighing under 10 lbs., in enclosed pet carriers may board the trolley. The pet carrier must be placed on the floor under the seat while riding.
- Non-service animals may not board the Trolley, unless in a carrier.
